Downer and Peter meet to discuss Fiji
The New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters and Australian Foreign Minister Alexandra Downer have met in Auckland and high on the agenda was the situation in Fiji.
News talks ZB reports that Downer has assured his counterpart that the New Zealand Government’s position on Fiji has the full backing from Australia as they discuss the ongoing difficulties they face with Fiji.
Downer is also reported to have commended the way New Zealand has handled the expulsion of High Commissioner to Fiji, Michael Greene earlier.
Meanwhile, both Australia and New Zealand have also warned its citizens on the strikes by the unions in Fiji, to take precautions and exercise caution.
