Dozens sue over ‘nightmare’ cruise ship outbreaks
Dozens of cruise passengers have now joined a lawsuit against P&O Cruises seeking compensation for a series of ‘nightmare’ sailings which made many sick.
It is one of several legal filings relating to gastro outbreaks on P&O ship Ventura since last summer.
More plaintiffs were added recently who became ill in May and June this year.
Law firm Irwin Mitchell is representing more than 60 people who claim they became ill and were isolated and/or suffered loss of enjoyment on their cruise.
“The latest news of illness onboard the Ventura and the symptoms our clients are reporting is a concern,” said Jatinder Paul of Irwin Mitchell.
“The effects of gastric illness should never be downplayed, as it can lead to serious long-term and permanent health complications.”
The cruise line is ‘investigating the allegations made.’
Passenger Jason Howard, who cruised on the ship in May, said: “Prior to getting on the ship, we were told that boarding was pushed back two hours for enhanced cleaning, but when we got on, our cabin was filthy.”
“The whole ordeal was awful and I’m still not right to this day. All I want now are some answers.”
An earlier lawsuit was filed in late 2024 on behalf of more than 100 cruise passengers who took cruises from April to June 2024.
One of these sailings saw more than 500 people taken ill.
