A United Airlines pilot was given a six-month suspended prison sentence in France after showing for a flight ‘drunk.’

The 63-year-old US citizen, identified as Henry W, booked on for duty to fly a Dallas bound flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on Sunday.

He told the court he had just two glasses of wine the night before.

A police report stated he was ‘showing signs of obvious drunkenness’ at 3pm when he showed up for work.

He had a blood alcohol level of 0.132%, which is over six-times the limit for pilots in Europe.

“He was staggering slightly, his eyes were glassy,” a police officer told the court.

He was also fined €4,500 and had his pilot license suspended for one year.
