Dubai plans Lyon in the desert

DUBAI – A Dubai developer has announced plans for a new project in the emirate that will replicate the look and feel of the French city of Lyon (pictured below), reported AFP.

Buti Saeed Al Gandhi, who heads investment capital firm Emivest, said he conceived of the idea after travelling to Lyon as part of plans for a French-language university in Dubai.

He wants to extend the university project into a huge district named Lyon-Dubai City that will feature public squares, restaurants, outdoor cafés and museums.

Lyon is known as the silk capital of the world and is also a centre for fashion…as well as the international headquarters of Interpol.
