Dubbo goes Jazz
Jazz will be in the air in Dubbo on the weekend of August 11 to 13 for the 16th annual Dubbo Jazz Festival.
Jazz musicians from all over Australia and two international bands will play at the festival, which takes place in Dubbo RSL Club Resort and other venues in Dubbo.
Among the numerous Australian performers will be the Mike Hallam Hot Six, the Eastern States All Stars, Jazz Ramblers, Papa Groove and the 10th Avenue Jazz Band from the USA and Dixie Jam Session from Hungary.
Musicians will warm up for the weekend at a free jam session at the Dubbo Bowling Club on Thursday night. Jazz will have diners swinging at breakfast, lunch and dinner events over the weekend and roving jazz musicians will liven up Macquarie Street and the sounds of mellow jazz will also reverberate through Riversdale Shopping Centre on Saturday morning.
One of the highlights of the weekend is a piano competition held on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday, there will be a lively jazz Gospel Service at St Brigid’s Catholic Church, and in the evening a dinner dance and jam session at the RSL.
