Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts is to manage a five-star property in Dublin.

The 179-room hotel and spa is expected to open December 2006 in the Grand Canal Dock area of the Irish capital’s new south docklands development. The hotel will form part of a large two-phase, mixed-use complex, which also includes office, residential, retail and entertainment facilities.

Phase two of the development will comprise a 2,000-seat theatre and entertainment centre, offices, shops and parking for 500 cars.

Le Méridien chief executive Robert Riley: “This project provides Le Méridien with a rare opportunity to re-enter the Dublin market. We have excellent operational experience in Dublin and are looking forward to once again being part of this vibrant and strategically important European capital.

“Dublin is a strategically important market for Le Méridien and we are excited about being part of the Grand Canal Dock re-development, which is one of Europe’s largest urban regeneration zones.”
