EasyJet has added more than 3,000 extra seats on flights to Gibraltar this winter after putting larger aircraft on routes to the Rock.

It will offer an extra 2,772 seats from Gatwick, an increase of 7%, and an extra 500 from Bristol, a rise of 3%, after switching the services from a 156-seat A319 to a 186-seat A320.

The news was welcomed by Gibraltar’s minister for tourism Gilbert Licudi, who said: "This is great news from easyJet. It adds very much needed capacity to Gibraltar for the winter season.

"I must commend easyJet and the Gibraltar Tourist Board, who are in constant contact for having achieved this in a short space of time.

"The Government has been working very hard behind the scenes to address current and future capacity issues to Gibraltar from the UK and this move from easyJet demonstrates their commitment to Gibraltar."
