easyJet increases Gatwick flights
Budget carrier easyJet is adding 10% capacity this winter from Gatwick with a new route and more frequencies.
The airline is launching three flights a day to Glasgow and increase frequencies on six European routes – to Madrid, Milan, Cologne, Athens, Berlin and Amsterdam.
The airline is targeting British Airways’ business passengers from Gatwick with the winter expansion which will see the airline serve 33 routes from the airport.
The Glasgow route starts on October 2 with fares starting at £20.99 one-way, bringing the number of daily flights offered by easyjet between London airports and the Scottish city to 14.
Frequency will rise in the winter to five flights a day to Amsterdam and Milan, four to Madrid, three to Cologne, two to Berlin and 11 a week to Athens.
Chief executive Andy Harrison said: “EasyJet has grown dramatically at Gatwick over the last few years by offering its familiar combination of low fares with care and convenience and has grown Gatwick to be our biggest single airport base.
“Given the range of services we now offer, from speedy boarding to the best hand baggage allowance in the business, it’s not surprising that BA’s passengers are flocking to easyJet in record numbers and today’s announcement will strengthen further our position at Gatwick.”
