Easyjet rationalises Belfast to Scotland services
Easyjet is dropping Go flights between Belfast and Scotland following the merger of the two no-frills carriers.
Go flights between Belfast International Airport and both Edinburgh and Glasgow will terminate today, with the exception of the Bank Holiday weekend, between Friday 23 August and Monday 26 August. Duplication on the routes following the merger of the two airline schedules meant that easyjet had too much capacity.
Easyjet will continue to operate three flights per day between Belfast and both Scottish airports, and plans to introduce a fourth daily Glasgow flight from 27 October.
Before the merger, the two airlines were competing fiercely on the routes, having announced the introduction of their services on consecutive days in April last year.
Go passengers with bookings on the route should contact Go on 0870 607 6543 to transfer to an easyjet flight. Easyjet chief executive Ray Webster said: “As there are currently over 72,000 easyjet seats available on these two routes until the end of the summer, we expect to be able to accommodate Go passengers on the easyjet flight of their choice”.
