Easyjet shares rise on better performance

Tuesday, 08 Jul, 2004 0

Travel and tourism shares saw mainly small movements yesterday as London’s equity markets dropped once again.

The FTSE 100 index lost 12.3 points to close at 4358.4 – its seventh successive loss – while the FTSE 250 did no better and dropped 17.1 points to end the session at 6120.4.

Probably the brightest performance was at EasyJet, which added 1.75p to close at 151.75p after announcing it carried 28 per cent more passengers in June than in the same month last year.

One City analyst told The Times that the results represented a “tentative sign of stabilisation” at the no-frills carrier.
