EasyJet shifts Southend flights to Gatwick
Leisure airline easyJet is advising passengers to keep abreast of latest updates as Southend Airport will remain closed through Tuesday morning at least.
For now, the airline is shifting operations to London Gatwick.
“As London Southend Airport will remain closed, our three departures scheduled Tuesday and the return flights are now operating via London Gatwick,” it said.
It follows a fiery crash of a small jet on Sunday at Southend Airport.
Authorities say the four occupants in the plane died. All four are thought to be foreign nationals
The Civil Aviation Authority ‘has put in place a significant air exclusion zone surrounding the crash site’ Essex Police said.
“We continue to work closely with the airport to understand when operations are able to resume and advise any customers to check our Flight Tracker,” easyJet added.
“Our thoughts remain with those affected by the tragic accident.”
