Ebookers launches free phone service

Monday, 27 Jul, 2004 0

Ebookers has launched voice technology on its UK website to allow broadband users to speak to call centre staff free of charge.

The online agent has launched the ‘click to talk’ facility on its UK website. Ebookers says its customers, who book mostly longhaul trips, often want help from travel consultants. The service can also be used to make bookings.

TravelMole tested the technology this week. After clicking the link on the homepage it took less than a minute to download the relevant technology and be connected to a consultant.

According to the company its average UK transaction value is over £500. Head of UK business Yashish Dahiya said: “With our customers spending such large sums of money on our long and midhaul products, this innovative free service is designed to maximise bookings by giving an extra layer of customer service and reassurance.”

Broadband internet users need a microphone to use the system. Those with a standard internet connection are offered a call back service.
