ecoescape launches UK green travel website
ecoescape, a UK directory of green places to stay and visit, has launched a new website to accompany the popular green travel guide.
The website, hosted on 100% renewable energy, offers a wealth of green travel inspiration including comprehensive details of hotels, campsites, B&Bs, attractions, restaurants and pubs around the UK. The website also features an open guestbook for visitor feedback and ratings, along with travel news, product reviews, supplier profiles and a unique space for green travellers to tell the world about their recent no-fly adventures.
ecoescape believes that the only way to reduce our carbon emissions through travel is to holiday closer to home and cut out flying altogether. This is now made easy through ecoescape’s indispensable guides and interactive website which encourage low carbon travel and provide details of public transport routes and national cycle networks.
Many of the businesses featured in the directory source local, organic and fair-trade products while others generate their own energy through solar-panelling, watermills and wind turbines. The businesses are subject to rigorous review before appearing on the website, and through the guestbook, ecoescape ensures that all of the experiences are truly green and safe for the environment.
“The success of the printed travel guide has demonstrated the huge demand for up-to-the-minute information about green travel, particularly in the UK”, says ecoescape founder Laura Burgess. “And some travellers weren’t afraid to tell me that they’d also like to see the information online and that’s a wish I have granted at ecoescape.org. Like the book, the website will grow as more green tourism businesses enter the market.”
