Efforts underway to change Alcatraz ticket ban
Talks are underway with officials of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area about its decision to eliminate sales of tickets to Alcatraz Island, according to National Tour Association President Hank Phillips.
Golden Gate announced it would eliminate sales of tickets for Alcatraz Island to the tour and travel industry starting next January.
Mr Phillips said he is trying to renew access to Alcatraz to tour operators. He also hopes to prevent similar actions in other parks.
The park authority has said high ticket demand has made it unable to satisfy both consumers and tour and travel companies.
Mr Phillips said his group would attempt to reach a compromise.
