Egypt looks to snag a share of golf tourism market
Tourism officials in Egypt has rolled out a new golf tourism initiative aimed at promoting the country as an established golf destination.
Launched recently at the International Golf Travel Market (ITGM) in Italy, Golf Travel Egypt is a privately run destination management company, operated up by CTT Travel and backed by the Egyptian Tourism Authority and the Egyptian Golf Federation.
It is also supported by the international golf tourism industry association, IAGTO.
The primary aim of the new organization will be to promote an ‘ancient and modern’ appeal of Egypt as a golf destination, showcasing a blend of ancient culture and modern resorts.
It will also work closely with IAGTO member golf tour operators as a golf specialist DMC to promote Egypt for golf holidays in various local markets.
It will plan to leverage the unique landscapes of Egypt, from Cairo to The Red Sea, along with its sunny climate and value for money.
Speaking at the launch at ITGM, Golf Business Development Director of Golf Travel Egypt, Mohammed Attallah said: "Golf Travel Egypt has been developed to revolutionise the golf travel industry in Egypt, bringing together all of the stakeholders in the country and harnessing the support of the relevant tourism and golf organisations."
"Our objective is very simple: we will implement a national golf tourism strategy that is designed to both deliver the best possible experience to the visiting golf traveller and also generate renewed interest in Egypt as a golf destination amongst golfers in all key markets."
