Elegant Resorts MD tells of luxury operator’s summer business boom…
Luxury operator Elegant Resorts made more money in July than in the same month last year.
Managing Director Lisa Fitzell said the operator had fewer bookings, but revenue rocketed due to some ‘phenomenal’ individual sales.
Some bookings included private jets, said Lisa, and she said she was surprised business had bounced back so quickly.
Consumer confidence took a further knock when the Foreign Office advised against travel to Spain at the start of the school holidays and it’s continued to get worse, she said.
However, people are booking for next year and 40% of Elegant Resorts’ current business is for the remainder of 2020, which is higher than normal, she said, adding: "We’ve got lots of late bookings, but after the Greece announcement [that arrivals from seven islands must quarantine on returning to the UK] that is likely to change.
