Elephant escapes with tourists after killing keeper
An elephant in the Thai tourist hotspot of Chiang Mai reportedly went berserk on Wednesday morning, killed his keeper and carried a family of holidaymakers off into the jungle.
The elephant gored the mahout during a group ride in the northern Thailand resort, when he was being ridden by two parents from China and their young child.
All three were rescued by other keepers who followed the elephant into the jungle.
Colonel Thawatchai Thepboon, police commander of Mae Wang district in Chiang Mai province, told the Daily Mail the keeper wasn’t familiar with the elephant.
