Emirates creates trade website
Emirates has launched a website dedicated to the travel trade, giving agents up-to-date information about the airline.
The website www.ekagents.com/uk enables agents to log on and source and manage information on Emirates products, policies and procedures.
Vic Sheppard, Emirates vice president UK and Ireland, said: “The travel trade is very important to Emirates and we wanted to work with them to make their lives easier. The new service is ideal for travel agents because it takes the hassle out of gathering information and allows them to find everything they need to know, when booking or selling Emirates at the click of a mouse.”
The site will provide information on everything from e-ticketing and airport services to Dubai stopovers and trade promotions. It is free to join, will be updated regularly, and is open to all agents.
The United Arab Emirates-based airline has also just announced a $195 million deal with football’s governing body FIFA to become a partner until the year 2014.
Under the deal, Emirates has rights to all FIFA events, including both the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, and an association with FIFA’s special events and development initiatives.
It will host a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup and can also choose to host a second official FIFA tournament in the UAE.
In addition, the airline has the exclusive right to broadcast matches of the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups either live or delayed on its in-flight entertainment systems.
