Emirates to add fourth A380 on Sydney route

Gulf carrier Emirates will introduce a fourth daily superjumbo service to Sydney next year.

Slated to begin on March 25, 2018, the fourth Dubai-Sydney A380 service ups seat capacity on the route by nearly 7,000 seats a week.

The airline aims to fill the gap left in the market after Qantas announced it will reroute its Sydney-London flights away from Dubai to fly via Singapore.

“We’re incredibly excited to announce a fourth daily service between Sydney and Dubai, highlighting our continued commitment to the Australian market and better connecting Australian travellers to our global route network,” said Barry Brown, Emirates’ Australiasia divisional vice president.

“As one of the great international cities of the world, Sydney is an important market for Emirates and this will create opportunities not only for Australians, but also for tourism and trade.”

Emirates A380 jets have 489 seats in three classes, including 14 private first class suites.

The airline also plans to upgrade a third daily Melbourne-Dubai flight from a B777-300ER to an A380 superjumbo.
