Emirates is to open a dedicated lounge for first and business class passengers at Gatwick.

At 1,590 square metres, the lounge will be the biggest in the UAE carrier’s network outside Dubai when it opens in the autumn, with 255 seats, flat screen TVs and shower facilities.

The airline is spending $13 million on installing lounges at key airports and plans to have 12 functioning over the next two years.

Emirates runs three flights a day from Gatwick to Dubai, handling around 4,000 passengers a week.
