Emirates tweaks its Perth services
Emirates will shave the number of seats available on the Perth-Dubai route from October, three months after rival Etihad Airways launches daily flights from Perth.
Etihad will begin A330-200 flights from Perth to its Abu Dhabi hub on July 15.
Emirates will temporarily downsize one of its three daily flights from Perth, from a Boeing 777-300ER to a smaller 777-200LR, which has nearly 100 fewer economy-class seats, depending on the configuration.
An Emirates spokeswoman, quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald, declined to say whether the airline still planned to bring an A380 to Perth, as previously reported.
“Emirates is continually in dialogue with airports around the world and is always assessing its operations, however there is nothing to announce at this stage regarding the possibility of operating an A380 to Perth,” she said.
Qantas no longer offers flights from Perth to Europe, having gifted such routes to Emirates as part of their partnership.
