End of month deadline for ATOL reform consultation

Sunday, 07 Jun, 2007 0

The Civil Aviation Authority has received more than 20 responses to its consultation on reforms to the ATOL regulations.

The CAA has proposed to replenish the Air Travel Trust Fund and reform ATOL bonding through the introduction of the £1 ATOL Protection Contribution (APC).

Consultation, which closes at the end of the month, has involved a range of meetings with key operators and trade associations to discuss our proposals.

“The consultation raises issues of key importance which potentially will have a significant impact on the travel industry. Therefore, we need to obtain the widest possible views,” a spokesman said.

“They cover the targeting of financial monitoring of operators, the apportionment of liability between the Air Travel Trust Fund and credit cards, and the inclusion of ATOL protection statements on sales and marketing material.
