Business class-only carrier Eos plans its first transatlantic service from New York to Stansted on November 1.

Fares have gone on sale costing £3,500 return, with a special introductory tariff of £2,500, following air carrier certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in the US after an eight-month safety review.

The US Department of Transportation has given Eos the authority to begin accepting reservations for the daily service between New York John F. Kennedy and Stansted.

The airline will offer fully seats which recline into a 78-inch, flat bed. The Eos cabin “blends the exclusive feel of a top-tier international first class cabin with the privacy of a corporate jet”, the company claims.

Founder and CEO David Spurlock said: “With our seasoned management team, outstanding financial backing and dedication to the highest standards of safety, Eos was able to move expeditiously through the FAA and DOT certification process.”

He added: “Eos has focused from its inception on meeting the needs of discerning business travellers. By combining sophisticated service, unparalleled comfort, and a distinct human touch, Eos takes stress and hassle out of flying and enables business travellers to make the best use of their flying time; to prepare for a meeting, work on a presentation, or simply relax and revive for what awaits them at their destination.”

Tickets are available online at www.eosairlines.com.

Details of the launch of Eos comes days after a rival start-up business class carrier Maxjet announced plasn for Stansted-New York flights also from November 1.
