Ethiopian Airways set to Star
Ethiopian Airlines has been accepted as a future member of Star Alliance.
Africa is forecast to have the second highest growth rate in air traffic over the coming years and Ethiopian will deliver an extensive intra-African network, including 24 new destinations.
Following Ethiopian’s entry, the Alliance will have three main strategic hubs in Africa – Addis Ababa, Cairo (EGYPTAIR ) and Johannesburg (South African Airways).
The integration process is expected to take 12-18 months.
Ethiopian Airlines will add five new countries (Chad, Congo, Djibouti, Mali, and Niger) and 24 African destinations to the Star Alliance network,
