Etihad Abu Dhabi-Algiers route will never open
Etihad Airways confirmed to have totally canceled its future flight from Abu Dhabi to Algiers. The national UAE carrier already announced in October to postpone the launch of its direct service between Abu Dhabi and Algiers.
It was originally scheduled to begin on November 7, 2025 with four weekly services on Etihad’s 160-seat A321LR. Tickets for the route had already been placed on sale on the Emirati carrier’s website.
At that time, the airline said in an official statement: “Etihad Airways flights EY737 and EY738 between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Algiers (ALG) have been temporarily postponed for reasons beyond our control […] ” Affected passengers were then being offered rebooking on alternative flights or a full refund.
Administrative and diplomatic hurdles
While the airline has not specified the reason for the delay, several Algerian sources point to administrative and diplomatic obstacles.
It seems that these obstacles have not been cleared. Etihad has now decided to fully cancel the start of the route which was deemed to integrate the airline’s network in February 2026.
The absence of any revised launch date and the subsequent removal of operational status for the route now confirm that the service has been fully canceled.
