Etihad confirms Manchester take-off
United Arab Emirates carrier Etihad Airways will start daily flights between Manchester and Abu Dhabi on March 27.
The airline will deploy one of first of its new Airbus A330s on the route in a two-class configuration.
The new route will serve the 650,000 Britons who visit the UAE a year, in addition to an estimated 95,000 British citizens living in the UAE.
Etihad Airways has appointed Alan Hope as regional account manager, Northern England and Scotland to build relationships with the travel trade community across the region.
The airline’s vice-president commercial Geert Boven said: “Demand for air travel between the north of England and the UAE is growing every year, and Etihad Airways is delighted to be commencing this frequent, quality service between Abu Dhabi and Manchester.
“This new route to Manchester will be Etihad’s 25th destination and an indication of the rapid growth the airline is experiencing. Our aim is to connect guests across the world and this new route will provide business and leisure travellers with a luxury service from the north of England, to the Middle East, and onwards to Asia and the Far East.”
