Etihad inks deal with Jet
Etihad has signed a codeshare agreement with Indian carrier Jet Airways.
The agreement will see Jet Airways’ daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Delhi and Mumbai prefixed with the EY code from July 1.In turn, Jet Airways will place its 9W code on the daily services operated by Etihad on the same routes.
Etihad Airways chief executive James Hogan said: “As well as providing air travellers with a greater choice of flights between the UAE capital and these two popular Indian cities, this new codeshare agreement will also provide customers of both our airlines with greater access to each other’s expanding global networks.â€
The deal will open up connections for Etihad customers wanting to travel to India from major hubs on the Etihad network including Damascus, Beirut and Jeddah, Geneva, Munich, Manchester, New York and Toronto.
The agreement will also mean Jet places its code on Etihad’s daily service between Abu Dhabi and Cochin and Trivandrum to give Jet’s Kerala based customers better access to Abu Dhabi and the rest of the network.
Jet Airways’ chairman Naresh Goyal said “The Mumbai and Delhi to Abu Dhabi routes hold great potential in terms of large passenger volumes.â€
Etihad and Jet Airways will also to link their frequent flyer programmes. Members of both programmes will be able to earn and redeem miles when travelling on all Etihad and Jet Airways flights, included those in the new codeshare agreement.
