European hotel chain acquires first London hotel
European hotel chain Leonardo will open its first property in the UK later this month, having acquired a 25 year lease on the former Holiday Inn at Heathrow Airport.
The property on Bath Road will be rebranded Leonard Hotel London Heathrow Airport and will open on March 16 with 230 rooms.
It will undergo a substantial refurbishment to bring it in line with other Leonardo Hotels in European cities including Antwerp, Berlin, Bruges, Munich, Vienna and Zurich and in Israel.
Saar Sharon, managing director of Leonardo Hotels UK, said: "We are pleased to announce that with this exciting hotel opening we are now poised for growth in the UK market.
"London Heathrow is a global hub where we can offer our guests an attractive hotel stay, build our UK business and continue to pursue our rigorous commitment to offer additional European destinations."
