Eurostar services recover from white-off weekend

Eurostar services have returned to normal with the operater tweeting yesterday that passengers should check in one hour before departure as normal.
The cross channel service has been crippled by the freezing conditions with many services either delayed or cancelled since the snow and ice arrived.
This weekend it was reported that 6000 passengers were left to stand in a seven hour queue that stretched a mile to take trains to the continent – all in freezing weather conditions.
There are now no queues at St Pancras and although some services are slower than normal, there is no disruption.
This is the second time this year Eurostar has hit the headlines for its poor services in cold conditions.
Back in February an independent review concluded that the operator’s contingency plans for helping stranded passengers were “insufficient”. Last December some 2,500 passengers were stuck in the Channel tunnel for five and a half hours with a further 100,000 stranded because of departure delays.
