Eurowings launching Munich-Bangkok service
Lufthansa owned budget carrier Eurowings will start flying to the Big Mango from Munich in the summer.
Flights to Bangkok begin on June 15, and will operate twice a week, returning on Saturdays and Mondays.
"The launch of this connection strengthens Lufthansa Group’s presence in this market and increases its flexibility and choices in terms of overall offers from Thailand to Europe," said Stefan Molnar, Lufthansa’s general manager of sales in Southeast Asia.
"Other than the three main hub airlines – Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian Airlines – we also cater to leisure travellers who are more cost-conscious and choose Eurowings."
The carrier plans to ramp up long haul routes to Asia and says there has been strong demand in the Munich market for budget long haul services.
"The commitment we have shown with our high investment in the new business model of low-cost long-haul routes has paid off for us," said Eurowings managing director Oliver Wagner.
The airline takes delivery of its seventh Airbus A330 in the coming weeks and this year its long haul fleet will increase to 21 aircraft.
