Ex-GP boss to spearhead Sunhotels UK push
A former Going Places boss has returned to the trade as UK and Ireland sales and marketing director for an accommodation-only website targeting travel agents. Ex-Going Places property and development director David Sleath has been out of the industry for three years but has returned as the face of Sunhotels.net in the UK and Ireland. The site claims an inventory of more than 1,500 properties in 67 destinations worldwide and is already established in other European countries. The Majorca-based company has pledged to pay agents 15% commission as it expands into the UK and claims to have has signed 200 agents so far. Mr Sleath said Sunhotels.net had been designed exclusively for the use of agents, offering prices quoted in sterling. “We do not promote the product directly to the public,” he added. Mr Sleath claimed the company had “one of the most relaxed attitudes to cancellation and amendment fees in the business”. “On city properties travel agents can cancel reservations up to 48 hours prior to departure at no charge and properties in sun and sea destinations may be cancelled at no charge up to 10 days prior to departure,” he said. Sunhotels.net enabled agents to “embrace the excellent earning opportunities presented by the trend toward dynamic packaging,” added Mr Sleath. Report by Phil Davies
