Ex-Opodo boss joins Cheapflights
Former Opodo UK country manager Jenny Taylor has joined Cheapflights.co.uk.
Unlike Opodo, Cheapflights does not act as an agency but provides a web space where suppliers advertise travel deals.
Ms Taylor, will take up the newly created post of head of marketing at Cheapflights. Part of her role will include developing syndication deals, which is a new marketing strategy for the business. She will also coordinate the site’s overall marketing strategy, with a particular focus on search marketing across both free search engine listings and the pay per click (PPC) sector.
Ms Taylor told TravelMole: “The core of the marketing strategy to date has been focused on PR and search marketing. Syndication will be a new pillar to see what we can achieve through this route.”
She added: “It’s still too early to say exactly what the proposition will be but Cheapflights has a very strong brand name with major advertisers from British Airways to Lastminute to Thomas Cook so that will be retained in any syndication deals.”
Before joining Cheapflilghts, Ms Taylor was UK country manager at Opodo – a post she took up last January, the same month as the website launched in the UK. But in April this year Opodo announced the appointment of Richard Hadfield as UK country manager, replacing Ms Taylor. This formed part of a raft of new executive appointments at the airline-owned website which also saw Carl Michel recruited as director of product strategy and Karen Richardson appointed as commercial director with responsibility for sales and marketing.
Ms Taylor’s previous roles include E-commerce manager UK at KLM and Go sales and marketing manager Interactive.
