Ex-TSA officer accused of false imprisonment of woman at LAX
A former Los Angeles Airport TSA agent is facing charges of false imprisonment of a female traveler.
Johnathon Lomeli was arrested and charged with false imprisonment for intentionally and unlawfully detaining an individual through the use of fraud or deceit.
The charge was announced by California attorney general Xavier Becerra.
"Women deserve to be treated with dignity and respect everywhere," Becerra said
"There is no excuse for this kind of alleged behavior. It’s not okay on the street, it’s not okay in our schools, and it’s certainly not welcome at the airport."
It follows a joint investigation in to the June 2019 incident by the LAPD, the FBI, federal air marshals and the California Department of Justice.
No specifics were disclosed but AG Becerra’s office noted it is committed to ‘taking on bad actors and supporting survivors of sexual violence.’
The alleged crime happened outside of the main security screening area at LAX.
