Ex-Virgin marketing chief joins Cheapflights
Travel comparison website Cheapflights has appointed ex-Virgin Holidays marketing chief Andrew Shelton as its first global marketing director.
He joins the site as it launches a raft of country-specific websites and a new flight search app in selected markets including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Hong Kong.
The company said it is looking to increase the pace of its brand roll-out with the launch of its next-generation sites over the next six to 12 months.
Shelton’s brief is to boost engagement with customers who are accessing Cheapflights in new ways, such as via mobile and hybrid devices.
He takes responsibility for both offline and online marketing, search engine optimisation, social media and consumer PR for the Cheapflights brand globally.
Earlier this month, Cheapflights parent, Momondo Group, announced a multimillion pound investment from Boston-based private equity fund, Great Hill Partners, valuing the online travel group at more than £132 million.
