Exit Fees from Costa Rica

Saturday, 08 Nov, 2011 0

For your own sanity and safety keep in mind when departing Costa Rica (at least in San Jose at Juan Santa Maria airport) there will be fees that you are required to pay to exit the country (aka Departure Fees). We are mostly accustomed to those fees being included in our ticket costs. In this case it is NOT. Leave extra time to get into the long line at the airport to pay the fees. It is approximately $26 USD. Make sure you have it in cash (easier for everyone)don’t ask any questions, have your passport and ticket ready The fees can be paid in US Dollars or Costa Rican Colones. Also check with the airline directly to verify the currenty fees for that day. They can change anything they want at any time. As long as you are prepared in advance for the extra time and costs you can still be a happy traveller….even if you are not quite ready to leave the excitement and beauty of Costa Rica behind.
