Exodus raises six figure sum in Nepal Earthquake Appeal
Exodus has created a three-phased plan for the money raised from its Nepal Earthquake Appeal.
Clients from the travel firm helped to raise £230,000 for a cause ‘close to its hearts’ as it was one of the first companies to set up the trekking movement in the Annapurna and Everest regions in the mid 1970s.
Phase One will see immediate aid helped by its staff in Nepal including shelter, food, mattresses, cooking utensils and medical supplies.
Phase Two will see a programme to rebuild houses using local builders after the monsoon season and Phase Three is a long term investment including sustainable smokeless stove initiatives, improving access to schools and clean water as well as funding a medical camp in the mountains.
Dan Jackson, UK agency sales manager, said: "We do respond to natural disasters in areas we have strong links with, and send lots of clients to as we feel this is only right.
"But the £230k was mainly raised by Exodus clients – its huge..! We were really not expecting this."
