Expanded terminal for Melbourne International
A new 5000 sq metre expansion of Melbourne Airport’s international terminal has been opened.
The 20mx80m expansion has more than doubled the existing public space, added a new third level to the international terminal building and also involved the installation of two dual aerobridges to accommodate the new double-decker A380 aircraft.
The expanded terminal includes floor to ceiling windows that give passengers a view across the airfield to Mount Macedon, while its new gates allow passengers a view of docked aircraft with planes’ noses almost touching the windows.
“This project is the last major step in the airport’s multimillion dollar apron, runway and terminal development program to accommodate continued growth in international passenger traffic and the new-generation A380 aircraft,” Melbourne Airport CEO Chris Barlow said
