Expedia claims: We have lift-off
SYDNEY – Expedia says it is “very impressed†with the results of trading for its first month in Australia.
“Our expectations have been far surpassed in the uptake of agents to the TAAP programme,†said Stuart Udy, manager of travel agent distribution Asia Pacific.
“Not only in the numbers of agents joining the programme but the generation of bookings. Looking at the early figures, there is an indication that a pent-up demand has been met with great enthusiasm.â€
The Expedia Travel Agent’s Affiliate Program (TAAP) was launched in Australia on March 1 providing travel agents access to Expedia’s online inventory.
Until the end of April, subscription to the TAAP is free and the special introductory commission rate offers agents up to 12 percent (for travel up till the end of June) on Expedia Special Rate hotels worldwide.
Said Udy, “I’ve spoken to many agents and they love the system. Bookings which once took them hours of research are now completed in minutes.
“We make it easy for agents to book all major destinations round the world but also those out of the way places which just aren’t supported by other options in the market.”
