Expedia launches across the Tasman
Expedia, which claims to be the world’s leading online travel company, today announced the launch of its New Zealand website – http://www.expedia.co.nz – a full-service travel booking site designed specifically to meet the needs of New Zealand travellers.
Expedia.co.nz is the third branded Expedia website in the Asia Pacific region, joining current sites in Australia (http://www.expedia.com.au) – which launched in August 2006 – and Japan (http://www.expedia.co.jp). The company first invested in the Asia travel market in July 2004 through its investment in eLong™ (http://www.elong.net/), the second largest online travel company in China.
“New Zealand is a very important market in the Asia Pacific region, worth over USD$17bn in 2007, so we know Kiwis love to travel,” said Arthur Hoffman, managing director of Expedia Australia & New Zealand. “We are very excited to help New Zealanders research, plan and book their perfect holiday with all the benefits of Expedia’s global product range, competitive prices, and in-depth travel and destination information.”
Expedia.co.nz offers Kiwi travellers an unprecedented product range including over 75,000 hotels, flights from all major airlines, car rental companies and over 3,000 activities and attractions around the world.
All products on Expedia.co.nz are for sale in the local currency – the New Zealand Dollar. Prices are quoted upfront and include all taxes and supplier surcharges so customers are easily able to understand the total cost of their travel, without any hidden charges.
Kiwi travellers will now also benefit from a variety of innovative tools on Expedia.co.nz like 360-degree virtual tours of rooms and facilities in popular hotels worldwide and read over 280,000 independent traveller reviews. In addition to a superior online experience, Expedia.co.nz also provides access to professional travel advisors who can assist with phone bookings.
As the global leader in online travel, Expedia has been in the travel industry for over 10 years and operates the Expedia brand in 15 countries around the world. Over 50 million people visit Expedia’s global websites each month and hundreds of staff throughout the world work directly with supply partners in local markets.
