Expedia takes cruising online
Expedia has added cruise product to its Australian website.
Expedia.com.au now offers cruise product from more than 30 cruise liners, including P&O, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess and Captain Cook.
Destinations include Europe, Asia and Alaska, along with South Pacific, which accounted for 36.4% of the Australian market in 2012.
Georg Ruebensal, managing director Expedia Australia, says the introduction of the new cruise holiday products is a natural evolution for the Expedia business.
"We’re working with the best cruise lines in the world which can be booked along with flights and pre or post cruise hotels – creating the ultimate one-stop cruise holiday booking experience."
Europe is now the biggest fly-cruise market for Australians, with passenger numbers rising 26% to 57,719 (8.3% of the market).
In addition to its online platform, Expedia is introducing a cruise holiday hotline with dedicated Australian cruising experts available to help customers plan, compare and book their cruise over the phone.
