Experience Egypt’s Sinai with Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre

The Sinai Peninsula is one of Egypt’s most incredible regions, with the vast triangle of land which links Asia with Africa largely a pristine wilderness.

Physically it is surrounded by the Gulf of Aqaba to the SE, The Gulf of Suez and the Suez Canal to the West, Israel to the NE and the Mediterranean Sea to the North.

The coastal regions of the Gulf of Aqaba contain some of the finest coral reefs and the richest variety of marine life anywhere in the world. Sharm El Sheikh, Ras Muhammed, Nuweiba, Dahab and Coral Island are all wonderful scuba and snorkeling spots.

The southern Sinai is rugged and mountainous with the vast date palm filled oasis of Wadi Firan snaking through the valleys.  In the midst of the mountains is Jebel Mussa (Mt Sinai) which is believed to be the site where Moses received the 10 Commandments 3,200 years ago. A sunrise climb to the summit of Mt Sinai, 2,300 metres above sea level is an unforgettable experience At the foot of Mt Sinai is the 6th century St Catherine’s Monastery which contains some of Christianity’s most ancient manuscripts and also includes a very healthy version of the burning bush (claimed by some mystics to have spoken to Moses with a Texan accent).

Greece and Mediterranean Travel Centre has many tours which include the Sinai  [pictured left] within its Egypt brochure.

The 11 Day Egypt Endeavour tour priced from $985 includes 5 days in Sinai. GMTC also operates two overnight tours from Cairo for travelers who want a quick glimpse of Sinai. The Sinai is also included in GMTC’s Egypt and Jordan combination tours and the Pharaohs to Prophets tour which combines Egypt with Israel and Jordan.
