Explore maintains Jordan tours
Adventure travel specialist Explore is to operate all tours to the Jordan region as planned despite Wednesday’s terrorist bombings in the capital Amman.
The operator stressed that it followed guidance from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, which has not advised against travel to Jordan.
The country has some of the most spectacular scenery and ancient sites in the Middle East, including the ruins of Petra and the Wadi Rum desert.
Explore, which has been operating to Jordan for more than a decade, has three tours in the country and a further three are travelling there over the weekend.
Director Derek Moore said: “We are saddened by this tragic news. Our tours will continue to operate, but we are in close contact with our ground agent, are monitoring FCO advice and will review the situation should there be any further developments.”
He added: “Whilst we know the political situation around the world has changed with terrorist attacks both threatened and real taking place in many different countries, including the UK, we recognise that some clients may now be nervous about travelling to Jordan.”
Clients who are reluctant to travel can – if due to travel within the next 60 days on a tour to or through Jordan – transfer to another tour free of charge, excepting any non-recoverable costs that Explore may incur (such as airline tickets). The trip they choose should depart the UK before September 30, 2006.
Explore runs 10 different itineraries to Jordan, including Family Adventures and Adventure Break.
