Failed NZ travel agency sold customers fake tickets
A struggling Auckland based travel company sold fake air tickets just before it went bust.
The appointed liquidator of Travel Globe issued a first report stating ‘customers have not been issued tickets and some have been issued fake tickets.’
"This is extremely concerning, and I will take appropriate action," said liquidator Imran Kamal.
Kamal said the company had been trading insolvent ‘for an extended period.’
It owes about $200,000 to customers as well as other debts.
Travel Globe was established in January 2015 and is owned by Jujhar Singh who was previously made bankrupt in a previous business failure.
The liquidator report said dozens of customers had paid in full for travel or paid deposits and some had refunds due.
"The director has indicated that he would like to personally compensate the affected customers and the liquidator is awaiting on a proposal from him," Kamal said.
