Fairmont rises again in Blue Mountains
The $10 million renovation and rebranding of the Fairmont Resort MGallery in the Blue Mountains has been completed ahead of the official re-opening in April.
The renovation has included guest rooms, public areas and upgraded conference facilities.
All 13 meeting rooms and the ballroom have been upgraded and a new 150-seat auditorium is set to open in the next few weeks. There are conference facilities for up to 800.
The 20-year-old Fairmont in the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, 90 minutes drive from Sydney, is a resort with a colourful history.
For almost two decades, it hosted upmarket balls, garden parties and weddings.
Sydney hotel investor Jerry Schwartz, a cosmetic surgeon, paid $30 million for the 210-room hotel after business plunged under previous owners. New managers Accor have added the hotel to its McGallery Collection.
The hotel adjoins the Leura golf course. Other leisure options available include scenic helicopter flights, wine tasting and team building activities.
