Farelogix launches Airline Commerce Gateway

Farelogix has announced the launch of the Airline Commerce Gateway, a comprehensive airline distribution technology platform enabling airlines to deliver content, including custom-tailored product offers to travelers through multiple distribution outlets and customer touchpoints.

The platform, an airline-controlled commerce environment combines five components: XML Host Connectivity (Direct Connect), an independent pricing engine (Virtual Fare Store), a versatile merchandising system, a distribution rules engine and an XML API (Gateway API).  The Gateway serves as an airline’s delivery vehicle for customers shopping in both direct and indirect channels, including mobile devices and kiosks.

Jim Davidson, CEO of Farelogix said: "The Gateway is an industry breakthrough as it’s the first solution to integrate and optimize industry leading distribution technology engines into a single, "out-of-the-box" solution that can serve all airline sales outlets, including the fast growing mobile channel."

Optimized for mobile, Farelogix says The Gateway will allow airlines to ensure uninterrupted and consistent customer engagement throughout a passenger’s trip including check-in, seat upgrade, services like Wi-Fi or other amenitiy and extra purchases.  The technology enables PNR (Passenger Name Record) self-service, including ticket changes and exchanges, ancillary purchases, and airline-generated passenger recover options.

The Gateway follows IATA’s New Distribution Capability workflow guidelines, allowing airlines to accept traveler-authenticated or anonymous search/offer requests directly from GDS providers, OTAs and corporate booking tools along with airline websites, kiosks, call centers and mobile direct distribuiton channels.  The Gateway will also offer fully backwards-compatible distribution workflow for any channel not yet capable of supporting the NDC workflow.

Farelogix says The Gateway is designed as a complete "out-of-the-box" solution for airline distribution but that it can also be implemented in a phased approach. The company presented the   Farelogix Airline Commerce Gateway at a media event in Miami on Tuesday.

In his presentation to the press, Farelogix’s Jim Davidson said that The Gateway would help travel agents sell airline products and ancillary services with smarter and more flexible technology.
