Fault found on underside of Heathrow Express trains
A structural defect has been found on the underside of carriages on some Heathrow Express trains, the operator said today.
It said the trains had now been taken out of service ‘for the foreseeable future’ for further examination and maintenance work.
However, as previously reported, the Heathrow Express service between the airport and Paddington will continue to run every 15 minutes using trains from Heathrow Connect, which has been suspended.
Passengers with pre-bought tickets for Heathrow Connect will be abe to travel on Heathrow Express, buses between Heathrow and Hayes and Harlington and on the London Underground between Paddington and Heathrow.
The number of Heathrow Express tickets will be reduced during this period.
Heathrow Express director Fraser Brown said: "We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused so far, and assure passengers that we are doing everything we can to return to running a full and safe service, as quickly as possible.
"We would like to thank all our customers for their patience."
