FCO advice is ‘frozen in time’
Consumer campaigner and VIVID Travel boss Kane Pirie has accused the UK Government of dithering over travel restrictions, with the FCO advice ‘frozen in time’.
He said political wrangling between London and Edinburgh is not acceptable as a reason for yet another delay.
"The Government must stop dithering and take a decision to reduce travel restrictions," he said.
"Quarantining has caused a lot of excitement but is a red herring that was only ever going to last a few weeks in theory and in practice was never enforced at all. Air bridges were a make-believe solution to made-up problem that never came to pass. Another fiasco in a comedy of errors."
He said the blanket ban by the FCO against all non-essential travel is costing travel businesses a ‘fortune’ by the day and will lead to more failures and job losses.
"My own patience is exhausted. There is no health risk in flying to a country like New Zealand which is Covid-19 free. It is an abuse to leave the FCO advice frozen in time. People are becoming increasingly vexed," he said.
The WTTC also berated the UK Government for failing to confirm details of which countries would be quarantine free from Monday.
