Few cancellations since Casablanca bombs
Morocco: Tourists are still arriving – and authorities want to keep it that way
Moroccan authorities are claiming that few holidaymakers have cancelled their trips to the country since the Casablanca bombings several days back – but they are keen to protect their tourist industry in the light of the attacks.
More than 40 people are known to have died in the bombings, but authorities are insisting – in public anyway – that the country’s largely-harmonious reputation will stay intact.
According to The Independent, tourist chiefs from around Morocco met on Monday to adopt a strategy for making sure visitors keep arriving. In recent months the country’s government had announced plans to quadruple the number of international visitors – but there are real fears that there could be a serious decline.
