Fiji Airways launching Singapore flights
Fiji Airways will begin flying nonstop to Singapore from next year.
Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum announced the route, saying the airline hopes to start the service in time for the Singapore Rugby Sevens tournament on April 16.
Sayed-Khaiyum said advanced tals are taking place to start a service to Beijing but there are currently some issues with the Air Service Agreements.
"If that does not get resolved in time, then obviously Fiji Airways needs to look at other destinations," he said.
"However, Singapore is confirmed and I have discussed it with the chairman of Fiji Airways and he has given his confirmation.
Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Koya said the Singapore route will be a major boost for tourism.
"I think in terms of tourism, it will give another access point for visitors with direct services. The more access points we have, the better it is for Fijian tourism."
