Finland national rail will offer first class comfort on new night trains by year end

As night train popularity is continually increasing, Finland national rail company VR Group is revolutionizing Finland’s long haul rail travel.  The Finnish company is due to launch long-distance trains featuring cabins that boast the luxury of hotel rooms. New trains will start departures towards the end of 2025 on time for the winter season to Lapland.
VR Group acquired nine new sleeper cars and eight car-carrier coaches for night train traffic. The procurement also includes an option to purchase an additional 30 sleeper coaches and 30 car-carriers.
The sleeper and car-carrier coaches are providing amenities meeting the wishes of passengers which will turn the night train an even more enjoyable experience. The interior of the sleeper cabins has been modified so that working and dining in its own cabin will be even more comfortable. Some of the private cabins will also integrate a shower.
The new night trains will circulate from Helsinki, Turku and Tampere to Oulu, Rovaniemi, Kemijärvi and Kolari in Lapland. Bookings are open for night train trips until March 2026. Private cabins prices start from €49, cabins with shower starting from €74.
